ST. MARTINVILLE, La. (KADN) — St. Martinville police need the public’s help to solve a deadly weekend shooting.
The victim was identified as Javonte’ Anthony, 18, of St. Martinville.
He was shot and killed inside a home on Washington Street. His family is now begging for justice.
Relatives said Anthony was murdered while he was alone inside his family’s home after he had left his aunt’s funeral.
"I can only imagine how he felt when he seen them, when they busted into the house,” said Shalasia Anthony, the victim’s sister. “I can only imagine how he felt when he seen them and when they shot him. He was only … he was home alone. No one was there to protect him. No one was there to protect him or defend him. He couldn't even defend himself. He's small. He's a baby."

Police are looking for the car witnesses saw leaving the scene moments after the shooting.
Shalasia Anthony added the family is left heartbroken.
"I'm lost for words. [At] 22, I'm going to live the rest of my life without my little brother, the rest of my life. I'm going to be 60 and he'll still be 18. I'm going to be 60 and have gone through so much without him," she explained.
The tragedy came just three days before Javonte’ Anthony would have turned 19. To celebrate his life, the family will have a balloon release on Tuesday, August 6.
