LAFAYETTE, La. (NEWS 15) — A former Ragin’ Cajun football star has turned his love of cooking for friends and family into a booming restaurant business. Now, Shane's Famous Quesadilla Burgers is about to undertake a major expansion. Former Ragin’ Cajun football player Shane Vallot's dream to open his own restaurant has gone much better than expected. He is set to move into a much bigger facility next month, which will allow a lot more versatility for his customers. Vallot's burgers are bringing the sizzle back to Lafayette. The Lafayette native and former Ragin’ Cajun football offensive lineman decided to leave coaching and pursue his dream of opening up his own restaurant. After starting a successful catering business and food truck, he opened up Shane's Famous Quesadilla Burgers restaurant off Pinhook Road a little over a year ago and business has been booming. The funny thing is his signature item was created out of necessity.

ST. LANDRY PARISH, La. (NEWS 15) — More than five years after an arsonist set fire to three historically Black churches in St. Landry Parish, one of those churches is finally set to reopen. The pastor and parishioners of Greater Union Baptist Church are ready to start a new beginning. Greater Union Baptist Church was over 130 years old when it was burned to the ground by an arsonist. Generations of families have worshiped at the small community church, making many beautiful memories there. The parishioners of Greater Union Baptist are very thankful to have a beautiful new state-of-the-art church in which to worship.

BROUSSARD, La. (NEWS 15) — A local healthcare marketing and sales company is growing by leaps and bounds after just starting up a few years ago. Its CEO had a vision and a plan that he says is now paying off with rapid growth. Lafayette's healthcare industry is booming. With several hospitals and healthcare centers spread out across the city there is a growing need for sales and marketing within that community. Acadiana continues to be a hotbed for successful entrepreneurs. One of those is Reece Theriot, who founded Fulcrum Sales and Marketing in 2018, which focuses on the healthcare industry.

YOUNGSVILLE, La. (NEWS 15) — The campaign for Youngsville police chief goes on, as it is headed to a runoff next month. That's when voters will decide who will serve out the remainder of former embattled Chief Rickey Boudreaux's term. The race began with three candidates. It’s now down to two as Jean Paul “JP” Broussard and Cody Louviere will face off in the runoff. Both men said they are the ideal fit to lead the force into the future.

OPELOUSAS, La. (NEWS 15) — The City of Opelousas is seeking millions of state and federal dollars to undertake a massive and long overdue overhaul of the Opelousas Water System in a major effort to address the city’s water woes. News 15 spoke exclusively with Opelousas Mayor Julius Alsandor about the plan to keep the water flowing following what some say is years of infrastructure neglect.

(KADN) — Did you know that in Louisiana, 1.7 million people lack access to broadband internet connectivity? That's roughly one-third of the state's population. And many of them live in rural parts of Acadiana. News 15 Investigates examines the “digital divide.” Closing that gap has been a priority for government leaders for years. Currently, Louisiana has ranked at the bottom of US states when it comes to getting rural communities connected to high-speed broadband. The state has allocated over $1.3 billion from the bipartisan Infrastructure Bill for the largest program in Louisiana history to expand broadband statewide.

LAFAYETTE, La. (KADN) — The Lafayette Parish School System and law enforcement agencies sprang into action to deal with a surge of online threats of violence targeting schools with impacts for parents of students in Lafayette but it turned out that Lafayette schools aren't the only ones in the region being targeted by these bogus claims that are stoking school safety fears. School officials put out a message to parents on Friday, September 20, about these threats. Both school leaders and law enforcement said the public can rest assured that these cases are being thoroughly investigated but none have been found to have any validity.
