LAFAYETTE, LA – Two of Lafayette’s most wanted criminals are in custody after their arrest earlier today, according to Lafayette Police Chief Thomas Glover. Both are suspects wanted for commission of violent crimes.
Several weeks ago, Lafayette Police Department began identifying individuals who were suspected of committing, or being accomplices in violent acts. All of the crimes involved the use of firearms and range from aggravated assault to murder. Lafayette law enforcement agencies regularly collaborate to reduce violence through the removal of violent offenders from the community. Collaboration between agencies has intensified and those efforts led to the arrest of both violent offenders.
The United States Marshals Service and the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office took Kendall Leopaul aka “Peanut” into custody and the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested Joshua Thibodeaux Jr. aka “T-Pop”. Leopaul, listed as number one on Lafayette’s most wanted, was arrested on an outstanding murder warrant issued by the Carencro Police Department. He is also a person of interest in two other violent crimes in Lafayette. Those investigations are ongoing.
Thibodeaux was wanted by the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office for attempted first-degree murder and narcotics violations. The Lafayette Police Department will continue to work with area law enforcement agencies to prevent violence and apprehend any individuals who threaten the safety of the community.
