LAFAYETTE, La. (KADN) — ASAP, the food delivery company launched in Acadiana as Waitr, is no longer in business.

It posted a notice on its website this weekend that it's ceasing operations.

The company launched 15 years ago and at its peak featured more than 9,000 employees, including hundreds in corporate offices in Lafayette.

In 2018, the company went public on the Nasdaq stock exchange, and was later bought out by a Texas billionaire.

But problems soon followed and the company was plagued by debt and layoffs.

On its website, the company thanks its customers for their support over the years and says this is goodbye for now.
