Carencro, La(KADN)- Public bus service for Carencro's northside is in the hands of the city and Lafayette Consolidated Government.
For one resident who wished not to be on camera, walking is his only way to get around, praying the Lafayette City Council approves the ordinance to help expand bus stops in the city. "They got one bus stop by Walmart, if you have to go across the bridge you have to walk. A lot of the time I have to go across the bridge and sometimes I walk."
The resident says more routes would bring a safety element to the city.
"The bus would be more safer because the safety thing is... If you are walking the street and it is dark at night. You don't know which way to cross and you don't know how they are coming."
With only two stops one near amazon and another near Walmart, Carencro's proposed plan could bring about twenty-five new bus stops throughout the city. Making sixteen round trips per day. Bus routes and stop locations are still being worked out.
One resident says he would always take the transit if it's approved. "Oh yes, I would. If a person doesn't have a vehicle they can't get to where they want to go."
