...COLD WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 2 AM TO 8 AM CST WEDNESDAY...

* WHAT...For the first Cold Weather Advisory, very cold wind chills
as low as 20. For the second Cold Weather Advisory tonight into
Wednesday morning, very cold wind chills as low as 22 expected.

* WHERE...Portions of south central and southwest Louisiana and
southeast Texas.

* WHEN...For the first Cold Weather Advisory, until 9 AM CST this
morning. For the second Cold Weather Advisory, from 2 AM to 8 AM
CST Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin
is exposed to these temperatures.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a
hat, and gloves.

Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure
portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills
inside.

Keep pets indoors as much as possible.

Make sure outdoor animals have a warm, dry shelter, food, and
unfrozen water.

Lafayette firefighters responded to a house fire in the 200 block of Wilcox Street on Thanksgiving Day. The fire was reported by a neighbor around 5:30 p.m. When firefighters arrived, a large wooden shed was on fire in the backyard. The fire spread to the exterior of the dwelling eventually …

LAFAYETTE, La. — Lafayette firefighters responded to a house fire in the 200 block of Wilcox Street on Thanksgiving Day. The fire was reported by a neighbor around 5:30 p.m.

When firefighters arrived, a large wooden shed was on fire in the backyard. The fire spread to the exterior of the dwelling eventually igniting the attic. The home sustained moderate fire damage while the shed was completely destroyed. 

The occupants of the dwelling were not home at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported.

The shed did not have any electrical services. Fire investigators suspect someone entered the structure and intentionally set a fire.
