OPELOUSAS, La. (NEWS 15) — Opelousas police are investigating a pair of weekend shootings that left one person injured and two others arrested.
Both shootings ended at the Valero gas station on East Landry Street in Opelousas.
Police said a man was shot at a nearby motel on Saturday, drove himself to the gas station, and flagged down an officer. The victim is hospitalized and stable. No arrests have been made.
Then on Sunday, gunfire was exchanged near the gas station during the Creole Festival Parade.
No one was hurt.
Police said Mykel Thomas, 21, of Opelousas, was taken into custody on charges of felon in possession of a firearm and disturbing the peace - fighting. They added a gun was found on him at the time of his arrest.
Authorities said Joel Aggison, 25, also of Opelousas, was arrested and charged with disturbing the peace - fighting.
Both shootings are still under investigation.
