BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) — A Baton Rouge police officer sprang into action when a pregnant mother went into labor on the way to the hospital, according to a report by WAFB.
A mother who just gave birth over the weekend said she's eternally grateful for a police officer who swooped in to help her at a critical moment.
She was on the way to the hospital with her mother, but the baby wouldn't wait.
Destiny Allen said the baby was coming and knew they weren't going to make it to the hospital.
Fortunately, Cpl. Jason Lee with the Baton Rouge Police Department was patrolling the area and Allen's mother was able to flag him down.
Cpl. Lee said assessed the situation, thinking back to his military and police training to help deliver the baby.
Baton Rouge police said mother and baby are doing fine.
