Halloween Candy Buy-Back

Lafayette, La (KADN)- Quest Pediatric Dentistry is continuing its long-standing tradition of exchanging candy for cash.

"Bring it to us, we'll pack it up, and ship it off. It's going to be enjoyed."

Pediatric dentist Dr. Shilpa Nileshwar wants those looking to get rid of some much-needed candy. "For every pound of candy, you bring we will give you a dollar. We do give the candy to the troops overseas and send it over so they can have a little treat while they are protecting our country."

With the pounds of candy growing by the year, Nileshwar says the tradition gives you a way to clean the pantry. "Seeing it go to waste at home, it'll just end up in the trash or just sit in the for a few months and go stale. Depending on the year, we've gotten as much as anywhere between two to five hundred pounds of candy.

As they work to ship the candy overseas, they are also working to put smiles on children's faces this Halloween.

"For every dollar that you are given for the candy, we will match that same dollar amount and donate it to the healing house," says Nileshwar.

Director of the Healing House Kim Thackston says every contribution goes to providing support and education for grieving children and their caregivers. "We are blessed, quest pediatric dentistry has been a big supporter of the healing house for years and so we are so excited and blessed that they would continue to thank us."

Starting tomorrow through next week you can bring your candy by during office hours.
