How are you adjusting to the high gas prices?

According to AAA, the national average for a gallon of gas is $4.23 but Louisiana is not far from it, local prices are around $4.03.

LAFAYETTE, La. - According to AAA, the national average for a gallon of gas is $4.23 but Louisiana is not far from it, local prices are around $4.03.

The local Race Trac off Bertrand is pretty close to the average sitting at $3.95.

"It's really depressing, it's not fun at all," said Boudreaux.

Pretty much every American across the U.S. is going through "sticker shock".

"I'll probably have to stop driving and start walking because gas prices are getting too high," said a Louisiana resident.

A survey put out by AAA said 60% of Americans say they too will have to start thinking of alternative ways of transportation whether it be walking, riding a bike or getting a bus ticket.

"I guess you've gotta do what you've gotta do," said Boudreaux.

AAA said drivers would also consider carpooling or cutting back on shopping and dining out.

"It's going to suck. I'm just going to have to keep putting $20 in here and there," said Boudreaux.

Local Chevron and Texaco gas stations are allowing customers to pay for gas in installments made possible by Klarna. Klarna is a Swedish fintech company which provides online financial services such as payments for online storefronts and direct payments along with post-purchase payments.

Moody's analytics said if gas prices continue the way they are, people can expect to spend an extra $1300 a year solely on gas.
