...COLD WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 2 AM TO 8 AM CST
WEDNESDAY...

* WHAT...Very cold wind chills as low as 22 expected.

* WHERE...Portions of south central and southwest Louisiana and
southeast Texas.

* WHEN...From 2 AM to 8 AM CST Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin
is exposed to these temperatures.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a
hat, and gloves.

Keep pets indoors as much as possible.

Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure
portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills
inside.

LAFAYETTE, LA – Lafayette Police responded to a shooting in the 700 block of North University Avenue around 8:09 pm on Friday, February 18, 2022 .

When officers arrived, they located a 43-year-old male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. According to officers on scene the victim and the suspect got into an argument. The suspect pulled out a gun and shot the victim once.

The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening injury. Anyone with any information is asked to please contact the Lafayette Police Department or Lafayette Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS
