...COLD WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 2 AM TO 8 AM CST WEDNESDAY...

* WHAT...For the first Cold Weather Advisory, very cold wind chills
as low as 20. For the second Cold Weather Advisory tonight into
Wednesday morning, very cold wind chills as low as 22 expected.

* WHERE...Portions of south central and southwest Louisiana and
southeast Texas.

* WHEN...For the first Cold Weather Advisory, until 9 AM CST this
morning. For the second Cold Weather Advisory, from 2 AM to 8 AM
CST Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin
is exposed to these temperatures.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a
hat, and gloves.

Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure
portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills
inside.

Keep pets indoors as much as possible.

Make sure outdoor animals have a warm, dry shelter, food, and
unfrozen water.

Calling All Non-Profit Groups, Sola Giving Day Is Now Accepting Registrations

Lafayette, LA – Acadiana nonprofits can make the most of SOLA Giving Day. Registration for the seventh annual SOLA Giving Day event being held on May 2 is open to any nonprofit, church, or school that would like to participate. Registration will remain open through March 7. For more information about SOLA Giving Day and how to register, visit www.solagivingday.org. 

The nonprofit registration webinar will be hosted on February 6, at 10 a.m. to provide an overview of event details, new technologies, nonprofit toolkits and step-by-step instructions on how to register your nonprofit, church or school for the big event. Sign up is available at https://www.solagivingday.org/info/trainings. Additional trainings specific to organization are available at the same link.

Two $500 Early Bird prizes will be awarded to two randomly selected organizations that are approved for registration and complete their fundraising profiles by February 22. For more information on prizes, visit https://www.solagivingday.org/prizes.

SOLA Giving Day is an event of Community Foundation of Acadiana (CFA) offered to 501(c)3 nonprofits, churches, and schools in South Louisiana. It is a spring fundraising campaign that spans four weeks and culminates with 24 hours of giving on Thursday, May 2. 

The purpose of the event is to assist organizations in raising funds for a specific project or program and provides an easy and inexpensive way for organizations to promote funding needs and continue fundraising efforts online.  The goal of SOLA Giving Day is to inspire the community to come together to contribute as many charitable dollars as possible to participating organizations.
