* WHAT...For the first Cold Weather Advisory, very cold wind chills
as low as 20. For the second Cold Weather Advisory tonight into
Wednesday morning, very cold wind chills as low as 22 expected.

* WHERE...Portions of south central and southwest Louisiana and
southeast Texas.

* WHEN...For the first Cold Weather Advisory, until 9 AM CST this
morning. For the second Cold Weather Advisory, from 2 AM to 8 AM
CST Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin
is exposed to these temperatures.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a
hat, and gloves.

Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure
portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills
inside.

Keep pets indoors as much as possible.

Make sure outdoor animals have a warm, dry shelter, food, and
unfrozen water.

Franklin remains under Boil Water Advisory due to occasional cloudy water

A letter sent by the Mayor of Franklin details the reasons for the Boil Water Advisory that has been in place since August. Officials said while tests have not shown any bacteria, the water has occasionally been cloudy, which can interfere with disinfection efforts.

FRANKLIN, La. (NEWS 15) — A letter sent by the Mayor of Franklin details the reasons for the Boil Water Advisory that has been in place since August.

It stated that because of a violation of monitoring and reporting, the boil notice continues.

Officials said while tests have not shown any bacteria, the water has occasionally been cloudy, which can interfere with disinfection efforts.

City officials added they are doing everything they can to get the boil advisory lifted.
