May 1, 2024, is recognized as Heatstroke Prevention Day.  In 2023, 29 children died because of vehicular heatstroke.  On average, 37 children die each year due to vehicular heatstroke.  Since 1998 nearly 1000 children have died due to pediatric vehicular heatstroke.  The worst part is each of these deaths was preventable. The “Once You Park, Stop.  Look.  Lock.” safety campaign hopes to bring attention to the very real dangers of children being left unattended in vehicles or a child accessing an unlocked vehicle and becoming stuck inside.  Again, these deaths are preventable.  In the attachment, you will find a press release regarding vehicular heatstroke prevention and awareness.
