...COLD WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 2 AM TO 8 AM CST WEDNESDAY...

* WHAT...For the first Cold Weather Advisory, very cold wind chills
as low as 20. For the second Cold Weather Advisory tonight into
Wednesday morning, very cold wind chills as low as 22 expected.

* WHERE...Portions of south central and southwest Louisiana and
southeast Texas.

* WHEN...For the first Cold Weather Advisory, until 9 AM CST this
morning. For the second Cold Weather Advisory, from 2 AM to 8 AM
CST Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin
is exposed to these temperatures.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a
hat, and gloves.

Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure
portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills
inside.

Keep pets indoors as much as possible.

Make sure outdoor animals have a warm, dry shelter, food, and
unfrozen water.

1 dead, 1 injured in pair of Franklin shootings

FRANKLIN, La. (KADN) - The Franklin Police Department is investigating a pair of shootings that happened within hours of each other.

The first happened Tuesday (Jan. 11) at about 10 p.m. Officers received reports of shots fired in the area of Iberia and Cayce Streets.

Officers found an overturned vehicle in a parking lot. Inside was the 19-year-old male victim who had been shot.

He was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Then, early Wednesday (Jan. 12) morning, officers were called to shots fired on James Street.

There, investigators found a residence was shot. A 43-year-old man was found dead inside.

Franklin Police said they determined that "subjects shot several rounds toward the residence."
