LAFAYETTE, La. (KADN) — Three bodies were found shot to death at a Lafayette apartment and the person arrested was known by at least two of the victims.

Lafayette police said a welfare check in the 700 block of South College Road on Friday, April 12, revealed two men and a woman had been the victims of a triple murder.

Lafayette police identified two of the three victims on Saturday. They are Brandon Touchet, 45, and Eric Green, 49, both of Lafayette. The woman found dead in the apartment has not yet been identified.

His family said the last person Touchet was seen with was Chad Credeur, 42, of Duson, who is the suspect police have in custody. He was arrested on a warrant for first-degree murder in the case. Officials said he is currently in the Jeff Davis Parish Jail on unrelated charges.

Surveillance cameras captured video of Credeur in February when police were called to the apartment complex after residents saw him walking around with a rifle. At the time, officers concluded he was doing nothing illegal.

Creudeur was arrested back in 2020 for attempted murder after he allegedly shot a man in the stomach while in Lafayette. He was supposed to have gone to trial on that charge last month, but he failed to show up and a bench warrant was issued for his arrest.

A picture provides evidence that the three men knew each other. On the left is Brandon Touchet, in the middle is Eric Green, and on the right is Chad Credeur. It was taken just two months ago at the Evangeline Downs Racetrack and Casino in Opelousas.

Green was a mental health therapist and also a professor at the University of Louisiana.

At one time, Touchet worked for the American Cancer Society and was involved in putting together its annual gala.

Corey Andrus, who has lived in the South College Condominiums for about eight years gave his reaction to finding out about the triple murder.

"It's terrible because this area is usually quiet,” said Andrus. “You know, the neighbors, they really stick to themselves. They don't usually have all kinds of commotion."

Sgt. Robin Green with the Lafayette Police Department said detectives are still trying to figure out a motive for the killings,

"So, right now, our investigator is out with other investigators talking to neighbors and we are trying to piece together exactly what happened," explained Sgt. Green.

The investigation is ongoing.
