LAFAYETTE, La. (KADN) — The suspected gunman in the Lafayette triple murder is now back in the Hub City to stand trial.

After being behind bars in Jeff Davis Parish since his capture, Chad Credeur is now locked up at the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.

He was brought back to Lafayette for a trial on charges unrelated to the triple murder. Credeur was escorted into the Lafayette Parish Courthouse under heavy guard on Monday, June 10.

If you recall, he is accused of killing three people inside a Lafayette apartment in April. The bodies of Brandon Touchet, 45, Eric Green, 49, and Elizabeth Reames, 46, all from Lafayette, were found inside Reames' apartment in the 700 block of South College Road.

Shortly after the murders, Credeur was arrested on unrelated drug charges in Jeff Davis Parish. At the time of that arrest, police said he was driving a car belonging to one of the victims. Inside that car, authorities said they found a gun and ammunition, along with property and identification cards belonging to the victims.

Police still have not indicated a motive for the killings, although the suspect and the victims all knew each other and often socialized.

Credeur is now being held on the murder charges in Lafayette and the case will go to a grand jury next month.
