ACADIA PARISH, La. — A man was killed in a single-vehicle crash in which he was thrown from the car he was driving as it flipped after veering off I-10 East in Acadia Parish.

Louisiana State Police identified the driver as Adrian Pascual, 23, of Iowa.

Troopers said it happened near mile marker 78 a little after 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 28.

Tpr. Thomas Gossen with LSP Troop I said the investigation so far shows Pascual was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Impala on I-10 East when, for reasons still under investigation, the car veered off the interstate, went into the ditch, and flipped several times.

He added investigators determined Pascual was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the vehicle. Pascual was pronounced dead at the scene by the Acadia Parish Coroner’s Office, according to LSP.

Troopers noted a blood sample was taken for a toxicology analysis per protocol for all deadly crashes on Louisiana highways.

The crash remains under investigation.

Troop I has investigated six deadly crashes that killed six people in 2024.
