The St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating a homicide in the Opelousas area. According to Sheriff Bobby Guidroz, his office received a call just after 11:00pm on July 16 for a shooting near Scattered Acres Road and I-49 South.

Father Stephen Ugwu is in stable condition following an attack at the Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Melville. Ugwu is the church's pastor. According to the Diocese of Lafayette spokesperson, Blue Rolfes, the attack took place yesterday afternoon.

Starting Wednesday morning at 6:00 a.m., worker will begin repairing water lines behind the Lawtell Water District One plant. 

St. Landry Parish President Jesse Bellard says if residents conserve water, they will not run out. That's because there is enough water in the tanks. But residents will experience low water pressure.
